A new game based on the series Happy Tree Friends

Hi everyone, I'm Andrey, a starting game developer from Moscow, Russia, and this is my first DevBlog. 

I've been a fan of the Happy Tree Friends series for a long time, and that's why I dreamed of creating an extensive game based on this series. I started writing the script for the game back in 2023, but active development started only at the beginning of this year.

I almost immediately decided to make a game in the Visual Novel genre, as this genre allows you to reveal all the actors and their characters. I also decided to focus on the plot, making it non-standard and versatile, with multiple endings.

So, I am developing a game using the TyranoBuilder engine, as it is very convenient in creating visual novels.

At the moment about 60% of the game is ready. The plot is completed, as well as the concept. However, I have problems with character sprites as well as backgrounds. So far, I have to use materials taken from the Happy Tree Friends Fanon, while all the characters have only one facial expression. In the future, I hope to improve my drawing skills and create sprites from the scratch, the same with backgrounds.

I also need to work on refining the main menu by adding more options and functions.

I need to add the same functions to the game itself, for example, skipping text, saving at any time, a window with the viewed text, the possibility of auto-save is also being considered. I also want to work on the settings menu, because for now it's a stock menu created automatically by the program itself. However, I hope that all the above functions will be implemented very soon, thanks to the TyranoBuilder tutorial.

That's all. The next post will come next week. As for the release date of the game, maybe it will be in February, but I'm NOT PROMISING.
